The Next Generation of Ear Ventilation Tubes

Accumulation of fluid in the ear causes acute painful recurrent ear infections and can eventually lead to hearing loss. In young children, operations to insert ventilation tubes are second only to tonsil operations. However, current ventilation tubes continue to have side-effects and complications.

Otomedics Ltd. is developing a new state of the art Tympanostomy Tube Kit that will offer a novel tube, together with an inserter and an efficient new topical anesthetic. Otomedics' kit will make tube insertion a quick office procedure. The innovative tube is flexible, with a wide lumen and a special design that is suitable for Acute Otitis Media [AOM] and for Chronic Otitis Media with Effusion [OME]. The tube can be used for both short- and long-term treatment, is flexible and can be removed at any time. As a result, the procedure will be much simpler than current tube insertions.

Advantages of the Tympanostomy Kit

• A physiologically designed soft silicone tube, friendly to the eardrum. It has a wide flat surface for a large contact area that minimizes the pressure on the medial surface of the eardrum. It is designed to resist extrusion but can be removed easily and painlessly.
